We at Brightly are thrilled to announce our participation in the LifeFactFuture (LFF) research program. By acting as the leader of the Technology Excellence Work Package in this innovative consortium project, we can use our manufacturing digitalization expertise to propel the pharma and life sciences industries towards their next phase, driven by tech and data.
LifeFactFuture is funded by Business Finland and coordinated by the Finland Futures Research Centre, which is part of the University of Turku. It brings together a consortium of the Universities of Turku and Helsinki, Finland’s leading life science manufacturers as well as data and technology companies. Our shared goal is to enhance data-driven capabilities in pharmaceutical and life science manufacturing.
The LFF project stems from the observation that life sciences and pharmaceutical manufacturing lag behind other industries in data-driven capabilities. This is due to several sector-specific challenges, regulatory requirements, and extensive quality requirements, which together lead to things like long lead times. These issues are not unique to Finland; they are global issues that have yet to be adequately addressed by pharmaceutical and life science manufacturers.
In contrast, other industries have made significant progress in leveraging data-driven methodologies. For example, the automotive, process industry, machinery and energy sectors have embraced advanced analytics and optimized supply chain management, resulting in enhanced efficiency. These industries have demonstrated the transformative potential of data-driven approaches, setting a benchmark for what can be achieved by utilizing an Industry 4.0 approach. The pharmaceutical and life sciences sectors are still playing catch-up, but constantly working towards Pharma 4.0.
At Brightly, we are participating in the LFF consortium as an in-kind partner, which means that we our research is not funded by Business Finland. We have taken on the role of technology lead for the Technology Excellence Work Package. We focus on leveraging agile development practices to work towards the Future Factory concept. This involves using our broad and adaptable understanding of data architectures, data models, data science and artificial intelligence to explore and develop new and innovative applications and solutions. We, as a leading-edge technology company, are bringing real-world experience to support the research of the University of Turku. We are also looking for gain to more in-depth research insights about utilizing different state-of-the-art data models and architectures.
For us at Brightly, our involvement in LFF opens significant opportunities to use our tech expertise to take pharma and life sciences to the next level. The project enables unique visibility to cutting-edge initiatives within the pharmaceutical and life science sectors. By collaborating with other organizations to develop and research data-driven solutions for these highly regulated industries, we gain insights from top organizations and leaders in the field and help build services that set new standards in Pharma 4.0. This collaboration enables us to better understand customer problems, stay at the forefront of technological advancements, and build new offerings to augment our current pharma and life sciences expertise.
